Tyrannical Reign of the Deceiver
for ages the world did hold the coming of one
which would usher in the era of din
and the chieftains they called upon disorder as order
their ally for the clasp within
multitudes surrender to him as their god
arrive the one who comes with wonders three
and calls the riding four
fuel the flames of torment with stones and stock of men
deception does take hold
as the world burns
from depths of the abyss comes a call from the hidden master
with words like smoke choking all who would hear him
calling for allegiance
their doom knocks at the door
he comes with the will to serve hidden and demonic accords
they cannot see the truth
the order seals their damnation
as a flame is made to touch down from the sky
the clouds do part to expose the herd to the lies of dross beguiling them
they cannot see the truth
their hearts are sealed with malice
binding them to hell forever
and the man bent on revenge
he comes to the palace shrouded in mystery
taking his hand to a blade
he’s seen and dragged before the majestic countenance
what is it you see?
this devil asked his foe and demanded his calling
do you know what you do?
have you come to die as your father sees you?
with a strength unseen in men
he did stand with defiance as the throngs looked on
and said, “you may slay me by the sword,”
but before another word he was dead on the floor
with the challenger bested
there remained only one
the fear of death - it grips the land
and forces them to bow
to the thing that will forge damnation
keeping them enslaved is the game of conquest

Since Spenser Moore replaced Blackburn I’ve frankly appreciated Inferi far more. I feel that his drumming improves the overall sound of the band a great deal, but it’s probably just a personal style preference. Either way, Of Sunless Realms was a great foreshadowing of the epic Vile Genesis.
